Kumbh-like grandeur on the cards for next year’s Magh Mela.

Allahabad: Lakhs of pilgrims and tourists planning to attend the annual Magh Mela in Allahabad in January next year may witness the grandeur of the fair on the lines of Kumbh Mela-2019.
To organize Magh Mela as ‘mini-Kumbh, the district administration will spend a whopping Rs 158 crore, the all-time high expenditure on the annual fair. Earlier, the district administration had sought Rs. 99.65 crore for the fair but when the state government expressed its desire to organize Magh Mela on the lines of Kumbh Mela, the officials submitted a fresh proposal with enhanced budget. The amended estimate, sent to principal secretary (urban development) by district magistrate Bhanu Chandra Goswami on August 14, seeks budget for 11 departments which shoulder the responsibility of the fair.

Allahabad keen on Kumbh-like grandeur for next Magh Mela. 
ALLAHABAD: With less than six months remaining for Magh Mela, the Allahabad district administration has started preparations for the annual religious fair. The district administration has decided that the facilities to be provided during the Magh Mela would be at par with that provided to pilgrims during Kumbh Mela-2019, only the scale would be reduced. Magh Mela will be spread in nine sector, stretching at both the sides of the Ganga. Each of these sectors will have different amenities including police outpost, fire station, dispensary and public distribution system. Each sector will be managed by an officer of the sub-divisional magistrate rank.

2019 New ‘development board’ to promote spiritual tourism: CM

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced the formation of a ‘development board’ to promote spiritual tourism in the state.

Yogi made the announcement at the inaugural ceremony of three-day Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart — 2019.

Forty-nine foreign tour operators from 19 countries and 21 Indian tour operators from 13 cities are participating in this mega event.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said: “There are immense opportunities in tourism sector in the state and tour operators can play a vital role promoting these opportunities.”

“Tour operators should train youths in becoming tour guides. This will help youths get employment,” he said.

“The road and air connectivity in the state has improved as compared to previous years. Eleven new airports are coming up in the state, including the international airport at Jewar,” said Yogi.

Allahabad division starts preparing for Magh Mela 2020.

ALLAHABAD: Although around six months are left for the annual religious event of Magh Mela, held on the banks of Sangam during January -February, railway administration of the Allahabad division have started their preparations. In this regard, a meeting was organised by the divisional railway manager (DRM) of Allahabad, Amitabh for preparation of Magh Mela 2020.

It has been decided that in-line to the facilities provided by the railways during Kumbh 2019, there would be similar facilities for the pilgrims coming for the Magh Mela 2020 too.

Magh Mela security blueprint ready, 30% additional force deployment on cards.

ALLAHABAD: The Prayagraj police have drafted the security blueprint for Magh Mela which is scheduled to be held on the banks of the Ganga in January-February next year.The police are planning to depute 30 percent additional manpower in terms of deployment as compared to 2018 Magh Mela for the security of lakhs of devotees, seers and kalpwasis.

The 43-day Magh Mela will begin with Paush Purnima snan on January 10 and culminate with Mahashivratri bathing on February 21, 2020.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stresses on associating youths with tourism.

 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday laid emphasis on associating local youths with tourism, saying this will give a major boost to development prospects. He was speaking at the inaugural function of Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart-2019. The chief minister said if the tourists are connected with activities in the place they are visiting, then there will be a spurt in development and employment opportunities.

We successfully hosted the Kumbh at Prayagraj because we formed the Prayagraj Mela Pradhikaran. Similarly, seven pilgrimage spots, including Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul and Nandgaon, have been linked to Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad,” he said. “More than 24 crore devotees participated in the world’s largest spiritual, religious, and cultural congregation. Kumbh established standards with regards to cleanliness and security which was witnessed by the whole world. Be it Pravasi Bhartiya Sammelan in Kashi or Deepotsav in Ayodhya, these are being organised in UP,” he said.
